As per the researches there were 117 million mobile users all across the globe in the calendar year for 2013. The year 2013 also witnessed a total growth of approx. 55 % in the Smartphone users and the most popular OS was the Android which which was shared by the 50% of Smartphone users.But the Smartphone penetration rate was as low as just 10%. But there was nothing to worry about as the low penetration rate indicated that there are still expectations for huge growth prospects in the year 2014 and also a 45% of growth was expected for the year 2014.

The major leading Smartphone brands in the market are Samsung, Apple, Micromax, Karbonn, Spice and Gionee. Here these brands are now seen to be facing a very tough competition from the entrance of new Smartphone brands such as Xiaomi, Asus, Oppo in the markets.
According to the Smartphone vendor shares for 2014 Samsung owns 39% of the shares, 5% of the shares are being owned by Motorola, 18% of the shares are owned by Micromax, Lava and Karbonn own 6% and 8% of shares respectively and the rest of the 34% of the shares re owned by the other brands.
Here we can conclude that the Smartphone market is now facing a very tough and stiff competition as new brands are entering the markets and making it very tough for the previous brands with their new Smartphones and other offers.
